We’re bombarded daily with innumerable, invisible, electromagnetic signals. Unsecure transmissions have left us all insecure and vulnerable. Unseen forces are working against us. New technologies of surveillance are being developed while we’ve been sleeping. And I haven’t even mentioned telepathy yet. Despite our fears, at its heart, this work is optimistic. To dream a new world, one must first enter the dream. To dream is to imagine the future. Insecure/Unsecure is about processing and decoding signals. The key to being able to understand a dream, Freud argues, is free association. To free associate, one must let go of control and be spontaneous. There can be no discrimination. The irrelevant and irreverent only may seem meaningless. Everything can be examined. “Why” is the operative question here. Allow your thoughts to drift, try to wander. Here, time is suspended. Events play on a loop. This is a journey into the sub-conscious.
