Brentwood Arts Exchange

Tara and David Gladden’s installation, Initiation, was displayed at the Brentwood Arts Exchange as part of Push/Pull: Variations on Nature that ran from November 5-December 29 2018. Our installation included three monolith wood/steel sculptures and three one channel videos.  We also participated in the artist’s talk for Push/Pull held on December 1, 2018 in the gallery.

Push/Pull was described this way by the curator: “Through the three-dimensional, the digital and the analog, seven local artists analyze and explore our relationship with the natural world. The connection we seek to maintain or are longing to have with nature, and how its elements are a source of inspiration, resources and awe.”

The show was written about in the Washington Post:

The art critic for the Washington Post, Mark Jenkins, wrote this about our work, “C. Tara and David Gladden erect totems of worn wood atop found-metal bases, which stand before a video of a dancer superimposed on a mountain-scape.”

A photograph of our work in the gallery was used as the photograph to represent the Push/Pull Exhibition in the Washington Post.
